FAQ section
You've got questions. I've got (some) answers.
You absolutely, 100%, no questions asked NEED DaVinci Resolve Studio 20+
MagicSubtitle does not work on the FREE version at all.
Magic Subtitle uses the DaVinci Resolve Studio Transcription feature to generate a timecoded script. We then use this to feed a spline (keyframes) into a textplus. This results in 1 single Textplus title (on your timeline) that displays your spoken words in real time.
Nope! The joy of using the inbuilt DaVinci Resolve Studio Transcriptions is they work even when you're offline.
The speed of the transcriptions will depend on your system. We use the inbuilt Transcription engine within DaVinci Resolve Studio. If you generate Ai Generated Subtitles on your timeline, Magic Subtitles will run at roughly that same speed.
100% yes! That's the point. The standard Studio Subtitles are great BUT they lack the ability to be truly customized. That's what Magic Subtitles are for.
Not quite! If you want plain subtitles over a big 40 minute podcast or a 1 hour documentary, just use the built in subtitles. Magic Subtitles is designed for short, punchy, fun subtitles.
Anything upto 5 minutes is about the sweet spot. It will absolutely work for longer but will get slower, and slower the longer they are. If you really need long subtitles, simply cut the Text+ up into small sections.
You can! You can either edit the actual Transcription from the media, or there is a quick 'Fix Spelling' box and a pop out 'Editor' built directly into Magic Subtitle. The Transcription fix is more 'permanent', while the Fix Spellings/Editor is faster and more convenient.
MagicSubtitles was developed and tested with English only. However, as we're using the native Transcription engine it will generally work with most languages available within Resolve. However, it doesn't yet work with Right to Left languages like Hebrew and Arabic. It will be updated in the future however.
